What the visit covers

  1. We look at both cables, the drums at the top and the brackets at the bottom corners.
  2. New lift cables on both sides, wound evenly in the drum grooves.
  3. We rewind the springs and even out the cable tension, so the door hangs level and balanced.
  4. We run the door up and down and test the safety reverse.

Cable prices

Worn drums or bottom brackets found on the visit, a door that also came off its track, or a heavy or oversized door can raise the price.

Is it a cable?

Questions

Do you replace one cable or both?

Both. The two cables have carried the same load for the same years, and the starting price of $195 covers the pair.

Can I still use the door with a loose cable?

No. With one cable loose, the door hangs from the other side only, and running the opener can twist it out of the tracks. Leave it where it is and call (925) 272-7700.

Why did my cable come off the drum?

Slack in the cable. If one side of the door snags in the track or lands on something while the shaft keeps turning, that cable goes loose and slips off its drum. A broken spring can do the same. We find the cause before we quote.
